Privacy Policy
ouchs (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that lets you photograph a receipt and receive a humorous AI-generated roast about the purchase. This policy explains what data we process and why.
1. Data we process
- Receipt photos you choose to capture or pick — sent to our server to generate a roast. We do not use them for advertising profiles.
- Roast results (merchant guess, amount, roast text) — stored on your device for history and weekly summaries.
- Device identifier — a random ID created on your phone, used for abuse rate limits on the roast API.
- Purchase / entitlement status — if you subscribe to Pro, Google Play Billing and RevenueCat process the subscription. We store a local Pro flag synced from RevenueCat.
- Ad activity — if you watch a rewarded ad for roast credits, Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and device signals per AdMob’s policies.
2. How we use it
- Generate and show receipt roasts.
- Enforce free / ad / Pro limits and prevent API abuse.
- Provide history and weekly share cards on-device.
- Process Pro subscriptions and restore purchases.
3. AI processing
Receipt images are sent to a vision language model (currently Google Gemini via our Supabase Edge Function) solely to extract purchase context and write the roast. Do not photograph receipts that contain sensitive personal data you are unwilling to process this way (full card numbers, government IDs, medical info). Crop or redact when possible.
4. Sharing
We share data only with processors needed to run the app:
- Supabase (API / Edge Functions hosting)
- Google Gemini (roast generation)
- Google Play Billing + RevenueCat (subscriptions)
- Google AdMob (rewarded ads)
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Retention
- On-device roast history stays until you clear app data or uninstall.
- Images are processed for the roast request; we do not build a public gallery of your receipts.
- Rate-limit counters are short-lived operational data.
6. Your choices
- Camera / photo permission can be denied in system settings (roast capture will not work).
- You can delete the app to remove local history.
- Manage subscriptions in Google Play. Ads respect platform ad settings where available.
7. Children
ouchs is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app if you are under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
